Lookout Cafe

Tucked away along Bowleaze Coveway in Weymouth, Lookout Cafe is one of those coastal gems that feels like it was made for slow mornings and scenic views. Whether you’re kicking off a seaside day trip or taking a break from the Jurassic Coast, this cafe offers a warm, laid-back space that truly delivers on both flavor and atmosphere.

From the moment you approach, you’re welcomed by a relaxed outdoor seating area that gives you front-row seats to Weymouth’s natural beauty. It's the kind of place where you can sip a flat white with the breeze in your hair and the sound of waves rolling in the background. For accessibility, Lookout Cafe makes a point of inclusion, offering a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and seating-making it easy for everyone to enjoy their visit.

Now let’s talk food-because this spot knows how to fuel you right. The Full English Breakfast is a local favorite and a hearty classic, packed with all the essential elements: eggs, sausage, bacon, beans, and toast (yes, the beans are not tinned!). It’s a comforting plate that sets the tone for a good day. Prefer something a bit lighter? The Eggs Royale with a side of spinach is a brilliant choice, balancing indulgence with a fresh twist.

Sweet tooths will feel completely at home here too. Their Cream Tea is served with fluffy scones that have just the right crumble, and there’s always a rotating selection of homemade treats like Carrot Cake, Dorset Apple Cake, or a decadent Chocolate Fudge Cake. Pair any of these with a pot of tea or a frothy cappuccino, and you’re golden. If you're into smoothies, the Coffee Strawberry Banana Smoothie delivers a creamy hit of energy that doubles as a dessert.

There’s no overlooking the savory side either. The Crab Sandwiches are a must-try, especially if you’re craving something fresh and coastal. Seafood fans can also dive into the Seafood Platter, which captures the flavor of the sea in every bite. For more comfort food goodness, the Mac N Cheese Loaded Fries (especially the Porky Cheese variation) add a playful, indulgent spin that’s worth every bite.

Those coming in for a brunch-style experience might be drawn to the American Pancake Stack, served soft and warm, often topped with fruit or drizzled with syrup. And if you're just after a quick bite, Lookout Cafe has you covered with small plates and healthy options, including vegan dishes and vegetarian-friendly items, making it a welcoming spot for a range of dietary needs.

Coffee lovers will appreciate the quality across the board-from espresso to flat whites, there's a focus on smooth flavor and perfect temperature. The tea selection is equally impressive, offering options that go far beyond the standard brews. And for those watching the waves with a smoothie in hand, the fruit blends here are refreshing, vibrant, and surprisingly filling.

The overall vibe? It’s casual, friendly, and feels like a well-kept local secret. Lookout Cafe doesn’t try too hard-it simply gets the essentials right: quality ingredients, good portions, lovely service, and a peaceful setting that makes you want to linger a little longer. If you’re in Weymouth, this is the kind of place you’ll want to swing by more than once-first for breakfast, then maybe again for lunch, and definitely for that second slice of cake.

I was looking for a dog-friendly café whilst in the area and came across this lovely spot Amazing location with stunning views, and seating both inside and out Nice coffee and a good selection of food – perfect way to finish with a beach walk! Staff could be a bit more attentive in my opinion, but overall a great little find.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat after visiting the Roman temple ruins. The cafe has the perfect location looking out over the bay, and has seating both inside and out. Staff were super friendly and even though it was fairly close to closing time they were incredibly accommodating. We had the seafood platter, and even though they did not have a lot of crab meat, they offered to make it up with another part of the platter instead. That being said, the platter had a great portion of each of the seafoods, and the salad was very good too. Personally I really enjoy radish in salads so glad to see it here. We also got a milkshake and a smoothie, the milkshake was a great refresher and my partner said she loved the smoothie. Finally we also had a couple of cakes to finish our lunch, I had a rocky road which was superb, and my partner had the largest slice of coffee and walnut cake, which of course I helped finish off. Definitely worth going for a nice meal with a view!

Absolutely fantastic spot! Stopped in for a latte and a smoothie, but the delicious-looking food was too tempting to resist—and I’m so glad we ordered! Everything was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. The perfect place to refuel before a Sunday walk in the sunshine. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and stunning views. Well worth a visit if you're in Bowleaze Coveway, Weymouth! Highly recommend!
